Installation Guide of MTX MUDSYS41 Soundbar

The MTX MUDSYS41 is a weatherproof overhead audio system with Bluetooth. Here’s how you can safely install it on your UTV.

  1. When connecting power and ground leads make sure the yellow power wire is fused at the point where it is connected to the vehicle’s battery. Failure to do so might cause a short circuit between the soundbar and the vehicle’s connection point
  2. The MTX MUDSYS41 mounts to a wide range of roll cages with bar diameters between 1.75 to 2 inches. The installation has two stages. In the first stage you fasten the unit to the roll cage and in the second you wire the unit to the vehicle’s battery.
  3. The soundbar comes preassembled in the carton. On either end of the bar, you will find a top side flat bracket and an underside C-clamp. These hardware are designed to lock the unit into place between the roll cage.
  4. When you loosen the bolts, you can slide the bracket to accommodate a variety of roll cages with inside roll bar dimensions between 43-49 inches. Once you get the appropriate width, you may tighten the bolts to a torque specification of 40-45 inch/lbs.
  5. Each C-bracket has two bolts which can be loosened to adjust the clamp angle. Remove the bolts from the C-bracket so that you can properly place the top bracket and the C-bracket around the roll cage. Once you are satisfied with the position of the C-brackets, you may proceed with the mounting and tighten the bolts to a torque specification of 65-70 inch/lbs.
  6. Now let us take a look at the wiring process. The device comes with an integrated wiring harness which includes power, ground and accessory wires. Total length of the wiring harness is 3 meters but it might be shortened to fit the vehicle.
  7. The fused yellow loop needs to be cut at least 2 inches from the fuse holder. The short end should be coupled to the yellow power lead.
  8. Connect the other end of the yellow wire to the positive terminal of the vehicle’s battery using one of the ring terminals included in the package.
  9. Make sure the 15A fuse and fuse holder are at a distance of at least 18 inches from the battery to avoid short circuits.
  10. Use the second ring terminal to connect the black wire to the negative terminal of the battery.
  11. Run the red accessory wire to the accessory switch. This will make sure the unit turns on and turns off with the vehicle’s ignition.
