BOSS Audio BRT27A ATV Soundbar – Detailed Review :

Technology And Design :

The BOSS Audio BRT27A is a heavy-duty outdoor soundbar. It is designed for off-road vehicles like buggies, ATVs and UTVs. It can also be installed on golf carts, jeeps, tractors, RVs and boats. It has a rugged IPX5-rated water-resistant frame. It is impervious to low-pressure water jet sprays, and can take a splash or two. It can withstand a light drizzle, but must not be exposed to pouring rain.

The soundbar has a built-in Class D amplifier. It boosts the incoming audio signal and infuses it with enough power to drive the loudspeakers. Class D amps are more efficient than traditional Class A/B amps. They have a high-speed switching mechanism that uses less energy and produces less heat. As a result, you have a cooler in-unit temperature, and you get a more powerful audio output with noticeably deeper bass.

The BOSS Audio BRT27A has dual means of playing songs. It has Bluetooth 4.1 technology for Wireless Music Streaming. It works with Pandora, Spotify, etc, and has a Bluetooth range of 33 feet. It supports input from all iOS, Android and Windows gadget like smart phones, laptops, iPods and tablets. It has a built-in DSP processor for distortion-free sound. It also has built-in EQ for customizing your music.

For wired connectivity, the speaker bar has a 3.5mm AUX input port. It works with the AUX outputs of MP3 players, smart phones, tablets and practically all non-Bluetooth and Bluetooth devices.

The best thing about the soundbar is that it has preamp outputs for adding extra devices. This feature allows room for customization. You can throw in additional speakers and subwoofers to expand your sound horizon as you like, which allows you to cater to a larger audience in open-air locations.

The device has a panel of multi-color LED lights. It comes in handy for illuminating the dash area after dark. You can do small tasks in its light like reading maps and finding tools in your tool kit. It works like an overhead lamp and helps you find your way around the wheel in dark conditions. The light bar has red, green and blue (RGB) lights, and can produce around 16 million different colors. The lights can be controlled with the help of a wireless remote controller. It lets you manage the speed, color, brightness and mode of illumination. You can also turn the lights off if you do not want them.

The BRT27A has a smart black powder-coated cabinet with a sturdy grille in front. Just underneath the grille in the middle of the bar is the control panel. It has buttons for play/pause, song skip, volume, Bluetooth, mute, EQ settings and LED lights. The buttons are easy to reach and operate.

The ATV soundbar has multi-angle adjustable mounting clamps. They fit bars with diameters between 1.75 to 2 inches. Setting up the system is fairly simple. Just plug it into a 12 volt power source, switch on the bar’s power and you are good to go.

Dimensions of the speaker bar are 27.1 inches (width) by 5 inches (depth) by 5.75 inches (height). It weighs 16.53 lbs.

Warranty period of the product is one year. It is extendable by another two years.

The package contains the soundbar, RGB LED remote, mounting kit, power cable, warranty card and a quick start guide.

Sound Quality :

The BOSS Audio BRT27A has great sound. It is equipped with three pairs of 3-inch full-range polypropylene speakers and one pair of 1-inch soft dome horn loaded tweeters. All the speakers are weatherproof. They pump out loud and clear music that is as realistic as can be. The amplifier adds more power. You get highly pronounced and nuanced audio with rich detail and a lot of depth. The amp touches a top power of 500 watts which is quite impressive. For an outdoor speaker, a powerful amp means more clarity and less interference. Frequency response of the soundbar is 45 Hz to 25 kHz which comfortably covers very low and very high frequencies.

Installation Guide of BOSS Audio BRT27A Soundbar

BOSS Audio BRT27A soundbar is a weather-proof ATV soundbar with both Bluetooth 4.1 and AUX input ports. So, if you can install this soundbar properly, you can enjoy heavy music on the road anytime. Let’s see the following steps to install BRT27A.

  1. Before you start the installation, make sure that you connect the soundbar with the main vehicle battery. The built-in Class D amplifier will work with the highest efficiency only when the main battery source is proper. Also, use the components provided in the package instead of any installation parts. Otherwise, it may result in a failed installation or any damaged part.
  2. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable from the main source and soundbar to prevent accidental electric shock. This negative cable should be only used when you want to complete the negative grounding and it would work with a 12 V battery.
  3. While replacing the fuse, maintain the rating (15 Amp) mentioned on the soundbar to prevent any kind of short circuit. It is better to cover disconnected ports or leads with insulating tape for safety.
  4. Connect the black-colored ground wire with all the metallic parts of the soundbar or directly to the main vehicle battery. Without grounding the system, you should not proceed with the installation. Connect the ground cable with the power amp and secondary system separately with tight screws. Make sure they are not left loose.
  5. Now coming to the main installation process, you’ll find an onboard control panel (OCP) where track control buttons, RGB illumination button, play/pause button, power on button, Bluetooth pairing indicator, and EQ button are available. Press the RGB illumination button on the soundbar in RGB mode.
  6. At first, determine the size of the rollbar of your ATV or any other desired vehicle and install the rubber brushing on the rollbar. It will give a tight fit and you can mount the soundbar securely. The rollbar would be placed on the mounting aluminium bracket. Secondly, the aligned notch needs to be attached with the mounting bracket with the T-nuts. Use 3 mm alien nuts to make it firmly tight. Then apply locatite 271 to the bolts and nuts and let them dry for 20 minutes.
  7. To use the remote control, you need to install two batteries in the remote control and you can find there are ten different buttons for the RF controller, power on/off, LED brightness up or down, speed change, mode up and down, colour up and down, etc.
  8. Let’s understand the color of the wires and their specific use. To attach the cables, you need to Allen wrench and pillars. Attach the red cable with the fuse holder and battery and the parallel black cable for grounding. For the daisy chain line output, attach the red plug in the right-hand side port and while plug in the left-hand side port.
  9. Between the line-out port and main cable input, you may find a line-in port to attach AUX cable input to enjoy music from mobile or iPod.
  10. For both Android users and iOs users, Bluetooth pairing is simple. Just turn on the Bluetooth in your respective mobile device and scan for the BRT27A model and connect. Also, do not keep the remote control in direct sunlight or submerge in water or mud. Keep checking the mounting frames periodically to keep the soundbar safe on a tough road journey.
